In 1981 the chairman of the Cheshire services in Malaysia have mooted the idea of forming a national body to coordinate their activities. Thus, the Malaysian Council of Cheshire Homes and Services was born and officially registered in Penang, Malaysia under the Societies Act 1966 on 10th August 1982 [Ref: 2476 (Pulau Pinang)] comprising the Cheshire Homes as follows:

  • Johore Cheshire Home [established in 1960]
  • Selangor Cheshire Home [established in 1963]
  • Sarawak Cheshire Home [established in 1969]
  • Sabah Cheshire Home [Association registered in 1974 with the 1st Home established in Kota Kinabalu in 1982 & 2nd Home in Sandakan in 2000]
  • Penang Cheshire Home [established in 1978] 
  • The Malaysian Council of Cheshire Homes and Services is affiliated to the Cheshire Homes East Asia and Pacific Regional Council [EAPacRC] which in turn affiliated to the Leonard Cheshire Disability with its headquarters in London, United Kingdom.
